'The Danish Girl' at CineEurope - new members of the Academy

THR: CineEurope: Universal Serves Up 'Crimson Peak,' 'Steve Jobs,' 'The Danish Girl' Footage
Universal’s recently renewed collaboration with U.K. production house Working Title saw three films showcased,
with an extended first look at Eddie Redmayne as transgender pioneer Lili Elbe in The Danish Girl.
Director Tom Hooper and newly minted Oscar winner Redmayne sent a video message, describing the
film as “extraordinary love story” between his character and that of his co-star Alicia Vikander.
Hooper said that when he first read the script he “thought about Eddie for the role,” and gave him it to read while
on the set of their last collaboration Les Miserables.

After winning an Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything, Eddie Redmayne
proved that no challenge is too great for him – even when he’s transforming into a transgender woman!

Eddie is among the new members of the Academy
of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
The full list is here

Academy Award nominees Benedict Cumberbatch, Emma Stone, Felicity Jones and Rosamund Pike and Oscar winners Eddie Redmayne and J.K. Simmons are among the 322 people invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy announced on Friday. (x)
Tom Hardy, David Oyelowo, Martin Freeman, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Daniel Radcliffe
also received invites.

Members of the crew of The Theory of Everything who received invites are Jinx Godfrey film editor and Jóhann Jóhannsson composer.

Variety:
Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs told Variety that the new members list reflects a push for “normalization” in its demographics, adding, “It’s been gratifying to see big increases in expanding color, gender, age and national origin in our membership this year.”
The AMPAS president points out, “The entire conversation of inclusiveness is at the forefront in Hollywood, in film, television, music, everything — and all of that bodes well for the future.” The Academy is in a position to help, since the membership includes a number of decision-makers, including executives, producers, directors — “men and women who have the ability to hire, elevate, mentor and nurture more people of color, gender, national origins.” ...read more

Tresure hunt - look who met Eddie recently in London

Eddie attended the Forsters Treasure Hunt Challenge in Mayfair last night. The event raised money for Centrepoint.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended our annual Treasure Hunt last night and who once again helped to make the event a massive success. We had a great time, and hope that you all did too as you charged around Mayfair following your maps and filling in your question sheets, all whilst spotting the odd celebrity or three and forming human pyramids – just for a laugh. Our ever popular photo round requested that teams capture themselves in various situations, such as doing the hokey-cokey with as many people as possible, team members all crammed into a car, with a celebrity, forming a human pyramid, and with a barista in uniform. Some of the results were pretty hilarious, as you would expect. A few top celebrities included this year as well! We love our Treasure Hunt Challenge, and the fact it’s all for a good cause in the raising of money for Centrepoint makes it all the more rewarding and fun. Thank you to everyone who contributed to another great event. (x) via

Just met Eddie Redmayne on tube. Just another tall and skinny guy. There's no body guard. There's no reporters around...

Suspicious photos in a Daily Mail article
Eddie Redmayne seemingly pushing a baby in a stroller with a female companion (not his wife or sister-in-law), but his hands aren’t on the stroller in any of the photos.
Maybe these are photoshopped pictures?
When it comes to faults, their Twitter account went even further, probably they confused Eddie with the new dad Benedict Cumberbatch. I tried to search the tweet today, but I couldn't find it. I think they deleted it when they found out it's faulty. (via)

Fantastic Beasts role offered to Ezra Miller - TBT: Virtuoso Award 2013

Ezra Miller, best known for co-starring in The Perks of Being a Wallflower with Emma Watson, might be eyeing a role in the franchise.
"Sources tell Variety that Miller is in early talks for the role of Kredan ... It is unknown how close talks are on closing a deal but sources add that for weeks Miller has always been the favorite and in the last week has emerged as the choice for the role.”
"In the story, Kredan is a person with magical powers who encounters magizoologist Newt Scamander (Redmayne) when he stops in New York City on his travels to find and document magical creatures.”
The story also reports that Josh Gad, who voiced Olaf in Frozen and will play Le Fou in Beauty and the Beast (so another Emma Watson co-star!), and Michael Cera are both vying for the role of Jacob, Newt’s rival, and that Alison Sudol, who is a musician and has appeared on the television show Dig, may be the front runner for the role of Queenie, Porpentina’s sister.
...WB has no comment about these rumors – meaning nothing is official yet...(x)
Ezra Miller is the relative unknown who is due to play DC speedster The Flash, in Warner Brothers' Justice League movies as well as his own solo movie in 2018. But Warner Brothers' isn't relying solely on the DC cache and is making sure the actor's profile is raised by then. It is now offering Miller a key role in something as equally high-profile as a DC movie: the Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. (x)

Q: You just got cast in ‘Fantastic Beasts’! It’s insane, how excited are you?
A:
I want to smile really big because it gets me so excited but it feels like I have lipstick all over my teeth. Yes, it’s amazing news, I’m thrilled.
Q: Eddie [Redmayne] just came off an Oscar, he’s going to get nominated again for ‘The Danish Girl’. Working with someone like that, and joining the J.K. Rowling universe, as an actress – does it get any cooler than that?
A: I don’t think so. I’m still definitely in a state of absolute shock about it, so it sounds strange even hearing you say those names in any way in the context that I’m involved. It’s really far out.”
